Meditation, The Universal Message of Peace.

Meditation is advocated by all scripture on this planet like the Holy Quran, Bible, Torah, Hindu Scriptures - Vedas, Teachings of Buddha, Various African Tribes, Aboriginees from Australia, Central American Civilizations, Aztecs, Mayans, Ancient Egyptians, Gnostics, Taoism of China, Sufis, Native indians and many more civilizations that have come and gone, all preach this same message of peace in order to endure the darkness in this world.

Meditaion and the Bible: Exodus 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

The context of this verse is as follows. The israelites escaped from egypt and now faced the red sea with the Egyptians coming fast behind them. They lost hope and complained to Moses saying that: They would be better off in Egypt and the Egyptians will now kill them. In reply to this, Moses said the above words.

Literal Interpretation: Be still, Be silent or Be at peace, GOD will handle it.

Spiritual Interpretation: Calm yourself, don't think about your situation so much, don't be anxious, don't be afraid, meditate and God will help us if we keep our faith in him.

Psychological Interpretation: There is no point in worrying, getting afraid and anxious about anything, instead, remain calm and collected and the next steps will be revealed to us.

This theme of associating stillness to GOD is also here: Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The world is always in a hurry - worrying about something, thinking about something and following the emotions, the will of the flesh(Physical sense pleasures ) and driven by the intellect. This is fertile ground for negativity in the form of fear of the future, depression through dwelling on how the past could be better and present unhappiness as we are looking at what we don't have.

On the other hand, if we live in the present moment (Through meditation) our minds will be renewed and we will find ourselves transformed by it - Our mental process and psychological condition will change from negative to positive and we will be able be more virtuous and have positive qualities like love, peace, joy, brotherhood, charity, humility etc. by understanding the nature of the mind.

In this way, we walk the path of righteousness or the straight path of God Almighty. Through meditation we are able to build the mental strength in order to deal with the various trials of life and walk through the fire unscathed. Meditation allows one to see the bigger picture and become detached of emotions, intellect and physical sensations which cause us to go into a state of Fear, longing, anger through which we are easily manipulated. Only through meditation can one able to continue positive works without being influenced or dragged down by the negativity that surrounds us, for God is with us and Fights for us when we are still.

Here is an excellent documentary/compilation of the works of Pastor Bill Donahue and others that show us the hidden meanings behind scriptural symbology and allegory all of which details the psychological nature of the mind and the importance of meditation. The Bible's Hidden Meanings - YouTube

PS: I do not subscribe to all views endorsed in this video, just the parts about the interpretation of the allegories and symbolism that deal with psychological phenomenon and other aspects of the human body and mind.
